Q and Z are worth 10 points each — the highest in the game. J and X are worth 8 points, and K is worth 5. There is only one tile of each of Q, Z, J, X, and K in the 100-tile set.

How many tiles are there in Scrabble?

A standard English Scrabble set has 100 tiles: 98 letter tiles plus 2 blank tiles (worth 0 points). E is the most plentiful letter with 12 tiles, followed by A and I with 9 each.

Are Words With Friends letter values different from Scrabble?

Yes — 12 of the 26 letters have different point values in Words With Friends. Notable differences: J is worth 10 in WWF (8 in Scrabble), and common letters like B, C, and P are worth 4 in WWF versus 3 in Scrabble. Our word finders score both systems.

What do 'face value' scores mean?

The scores on this page are the sum of each letter's point value, before any board multipliers (double/triple letter or word squares) or the 50-point bingo bonus for using all seven tiles. Real in-game scores are usually higher.
